Rockhurst drops conference opener at William Jewell

Box Score The Rockhurst Hawks dropped their conference opener at William Jewell as the Cardinals used a 19-0 run in the second half to pull away for an 81-66 win Thursday night in Liberty, Mo.

With 10:51 left in the second half, Rockhurst enjoyed a 61-53 lead. The Hawks went scoreless over the next six and a halfs minutes as Jewell took a 72-61 lead.

Kendall Hart led the Hawks with 14 points behind four-of-11 three-point shooting. Lauren Meyers posted 13 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Shavonne Brewer added 11 points and four rebounds. Mary Dineen scored nine points for the second game in a row.

The Hawks shot 38.5 percent from the field (25 of 65), while Jewell made 29-of-57 field goals (50.9 percent). Rockhurst won the rebound battle, 39-35.

Rockhurst, 4-4 and 0-1 in the GLVC, will play at Avila on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
