Meyers leads Rockhurst to road win at Avila

Lauren Meyers paced the Hawks with 17 points and six rebounds.
Box Score Lauren Meyers scored 12 of her game-high 17 points in the second half to lead Rockhurst to a 58-39 victory at Avila Tuesday night at AU's Mabee Fieldhouse in south Kansas City, Mo.

Meyers made seven-of-13 field goals, including three-of-five shots from behind the three-point line. She also collected six rebounds. Mary Dineen added 11 points and three assists. Staci Thomas posted a team-high rebounds.

Rockhurst opened the second half on a 16-2 run to take a 41-27 lead. Meyers scored seven points in the run on three field goals. The Hawks held Avila to 16-percent shooting (four of 25) in the second half.

Avila closed the first half on an 8-0 run to tie the game at 25 at halftime. Lauren Dudenhoeffer came off the bench to pace the Hawks with six points in the opening stanza.


The Hawks, 5-4 and 0-1 in the GLVC, return to conference play on Friday, Jan. 3 against Southern Indiana.
