Box Score Fort Hays State dominated the paint in cruising to a 72-48 victory over Rockhurst Tuesday afternoon at the Sprint Center. The 20th-ranked Tigers were too tough inside, outscoring the Hawks 32-14 in the paint.
Rockhurst fell behind 19-3 before hitting its first field goal of the game on a layup by
Russell Burns with 9:49 left in the first half. The Hawks only hit three-of-28 shots in the first half as Fort Hays State led 41-16 at halftime.
The Hawks outscored the Tigers 32-21 in the second half. Rockhurst made 11 of 27 field goals in the final 20 minutes.
Adam Fatkin led the Hawks with 10 points behind six-of-six foul shooting.
James Robinson scored nine points.
Russell Burns added eight points and five rebounds.
