Halley Dean is in her second year as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s cross country programs.

Dean is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She competed in track and field and cross country for the Roos from 2017 to 2020. She won medalist honors in the 5,000 meters indoors at the 2020 Mel Tjeerdsma Classic with a personal best of 17:02.61. She finished second at the 2019 Wichita Herm Wilson Invitational in the 5,000-meters (17:39.13) and set a personal record in the 1500 meters (4:41.49) at the Arkansas Twilight.

In the 2019 cross country season, Dean finished third overall at the Bob Timmons Classic in the 5K (19:11.5) and placed 18th overall at the WAC Championships in the 6K (22:17.75).

Prior to attending UMKC, Dean ran one year at MidAmerica Nazarene in 2016. She was the HAAC Indoor champion in the 5000 meters (18:00.39) and placed 25th at Nationals in the 5000 (19:09.76).

Dean lettered three years in track and cross country at Christ Preparatory Academy in Lenexa, Kansas. She holds the school records in the 1600 meters, 3200 meters, 4x800 meter relay and 4x1600 meter relay.
