The Rockhurst women's cross country team turned in a strong performance in the 5k Saturday (Sept. 5) morning at the Bob Timmons Rim Rock Cross Country Classic, placing third overall against a competitive field that included NCAA Division I programs at Rim Rock Farm.
The Hawks were led by transfer Carrington Hesson, who finished fourth overall with a time of 18:14.5.
Natalie Hawthorne followed with a ninth-place finish in 19:14.9, giving Rockhurst two runners inside the top 10.
Brooke Stephenson added a 16th-place finish in 19:45.8, while
Andie Garrett crossed in 20th at 20:01.1.
Laney Parmeley rounded out Rockhurst's top five with a 23rd-place finish in 20:12.4 to help secure the Hawks' third-place team finish.
The Hawks' third-place finish provides an early-season statement as the team competed alongside NCAA Division I competition.
