The Rockhurst men's cross country team turned in a solid performance Saturday (Sept. 5) morning at the Bob Timmons Rim Rock Cross Country Classic, placing fifth overall with 160 points against a competitive field that included NCAA Division I programs at Rim Rock Farm.
The Hawks were led by freshman
Elijah Smith, who finished 33rd overall with a 6k time of 19:54.6.
Andrew Hartegan followed closely behind in 38th at 20:06.8, while
Carter Tomac posted a 39th-place finish in 20:08.2. The trio gave Rockhurst three runners inside the top 40.
Colton Ellingsworth finished 43rd in 20:24.1, and
Evan Sansom rounded out the Hawks' scoring five with a 45th-place finish in 20:29.6. The five runners combined for 160 points to secure Rockhurst's fifth-place team finish.
Gavin Shaughnessy was next across the line for the Hawks, finishing 51st in 20:53.2, followed by
Colby Goddard in 52nd at 20:54.0 and
Jackson Krieger in 54th at 21:00.0.
Parker Foster added a 59th-place finish in 21:13.1, while
Simon Ketter finished 60th in 21:16.9.
Rim Rock Farm has hosted numerous major collegiate cross country meets, providing the Hawks with valuable early-season competition as they continue toward the championship portion of their scheduleÂ
