Pugh's walk-off home run lifts Hawks past Jennies

Kaylee Pugh hit a walk-off three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth to carry Rockhurst past Central Missouri 5-4 during game one of a doubleheader on Tuesday inside Loyola Park Softball Field. The Jennies won game two 7-4.

Game 1: Rockhurst 5, Central Missouri 4 (8 inn.)
  • Claire Long had a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first and an RBI-double in the bottom of the third. 
  • Pugh led the Hawks with two hits while Emma Reeves, Taylor Sedam and Emily Berry each recorded a hit.
  • Sedam was the team-leader in runs scored with two.
  • Eva Fulk, Sedam, Lily Hance, Long and Pugh stole a base.
  • Avery Huffman (10-7) collected her 14th complete game of the season, allowing three earned runs on five hits and struck out six.
Game 2: Central Missouri 7, Rockhurst 4
  • Trinity Darst hit her first home run as a Hawk, a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh.
  • Fulk led RU with two hits, an RBI and stole a base. Berry, Reeves and Pugh stole one base while Jazmyne Moreno stole two.
  • Berry, Izzy Carter, Reeves and Pugh tallied a hit. 
  • Riley Braden (1-4) and Madeline McCall combined for nine strikeouts. 
Rockhurst (18-15, 5-7 GLVC) travels to No. 16 McKendree to face the Bearcats on Friday at noon and 2 p.m. in Lebanon, Illinois.
