Rockhurst men's and women's swimming and diving opens the 2026-27 season this weekend (Oct. 3) with a trip to Omaha, Nebraska.
The meet marks the beginning of the fourth season for the Hawks under head coach Doug Schranck, who has led the Rockhurst swimming and diving programs since their inaugural seasons.
The Rockhurst men return an experienced senior group led by Omar Abla, JJ Davis, Preston Hoang, Ian Klapper, Omar Mohsen, Mohannad Nada and Dakota Windsor. The seven seniors will provide experience for a men's roster that also features six freshmen entering their first collegiate season. The Hawks will look to that veteran group to help lead a roster featuring student-athletes from across the United States and internationally. Rockhurst's returners include swimmers from Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Kansas, along with international student-athletes from Egypt, Brazil and Mongolia.
On the women's side, Rockhurst brings back four seniors in Yara Elkoush, Danielle Horst, Halle McCullough and Ana Pinto. The Hawks also return juniors Liza Engelbrecht, Caitlin Schuerman, Paige Sheridan, Bella Teaford, Avery Walz and Tauren Walz. Rockhurst's women's roster features five freshmen who will make their collegiate debuts this season as the group meshes right in with the returners.Â
Saturday's meet will be the fourth meeting between the Rockhurst men and Omaha. The Mavericks have won each of the first three duals, with all three previous meetings taking place in Omaha. Rockhurst and Omaha first met on Oct. 13, 2023, during the Hawks' inaugural season, with Omaha earning a 170-130 victory. The Mavericks won the following season's meeting, 176-103, before defeating Rockhurst 159-79 on Oct. 4, 2025.
