Golf Program Tees Up Success with New Opportunities and Partnerships

Thanks to Jacob Scoby (far right) and the Scoby Brothers the Hawks now enjoy special access the Golf Performance Center at Oakwood Country Club.
Thanks to a new partnership between Rockhurst University Athletics and the Scoby Brothers, the golf program gained access to a new practice facility at Oakwood Country Club in Kansas City, Missouri, starting this past spring season.

The Scoby Brothers, a marketing and promotional product supply company based in Sabetha, Kansas, and Rockhurst Athletics collaborated on a sponsorship of the golf program. This partnership provides both the men's and women's teams with access to Oakwood, including its state-of-the-art Golf Performance Center.

"The opportunity for our student-athletes to access this facility, only ten minutes from campus, was a huge asset this spring and will be going forward," said head coach Brian Moeller.

The facility boasts an indoor/outdoor driving range featuring TrackMan Range technology—making it one of only 33 golf facilities in the country with this advanced system, as well as indoor golf simulators, Swing Catalyst cameras, and pressure and force plates.

Oakwood now joins Sycamore Ridge in Spring Hill, Kansas, as home courses for the golf program. The team frequently practices at Sycamore Ridge as well as the host venue for their home tournament, the Capra-Konzem Invitational.

"Having access to these facilities at Oakwood and Sycamore Ridge helps raise the profile of our program and compete at the highest level," said Moeller.

These new resources helped the Hawks achieve several highlights on the course this spring, including senior Grace Claney qualifying for the NCAA Regional and freshman Kingston Solomon ending his season with a top-ten finish in the GLVC Championship.

"Sycamore Ridge is a great facility for us to practice and use for our home competition. Now, having access to another championship-level course, the performance center, and Trackman Range at Oakwood will make us even better," said Solomon (pictured below at the Golf Performance Center at Oakwood Country Club).

In addition to enhancing the experience of current golfers, these partnerships have become part of Coach Moeller's recruiting pitch when speaking with prospective student-athletes.

"Opportunities to practice and train at such great facilities are very unique for programs at the Division II level. When you pair this with the outstanding education student-athletes will receive at Rockhurst, I believe it will help us stand out even more in the eyes of future student-athletes," said Moeller.

For Scoby Brothers CEO, Jacob Scoby, the opportunity to form this partnership and positively impact the golf program mirrors his commitment to providing a quality experience for all his customers.

"All of us at Scoby Brothers are so excited for this partnership and the opportunity we have to positively impact a great group of student-athletes at Rockhurst. Whether it's the Hawks on the golf course or any of our clients, we love doing our part in helping organizations elevate their brand and achieve their goals," said Scoby.

"We are so grateful to our partners at Sycamore Ridge, Oakwood, the Scoby Brothers, and all of our alumni and family donors for what they are doing to continually provide our program and student-athletes the opportunity to grow and excel," said Brian Moeller.
