Inside game leads McKendree past Hawks

McKendree scored 44 points in the paint and canned 24 free throws to pull away in the final minutes for an 81-70 victory over Rockhurst Thursday night in Lebanon, Illinois.

The Bearcats rallied from a five-point deficit to take a 24-21 lead after the first period. McKendree ended the second period on a 7-0 run to take a 45-38 lead into halftime.

Rockhurst went on a 10-0 run in the fourth period to cut McKendree's lead to four points, 74-70, on a 3-pointer by Ella Campbell with 3:26 left to play. The Bearcats ended the game on an 11-4 run.

Rebeca Garcia led the Hawks with 16 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. Campbell and Akili Felici both scored 12 points on four 3-point field goals. Keegan Sullivan posted eight points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
