Hawks fall 1-0 to CSU Pueblo in season opener

Colorado State-Pueblo scored a second-half goal and held on for a 1-0 win over Rockhurst Saturday in the Hawks' opener in Hays, Kansas. CSU-Pueblo's Sydney Lasater scored the winning goal in the 70th minute. 

The Hawks outshot the Thunderwolves 17-8. Rockhurst had eight shots in the first half and nine in the second half.

Gabby Hennessy led the Hawks with four shots. Elle Kimball and Anna Lantz took three shots apiece. Lizzo Rosenthal had two shots, while Julia Witt, Sarah Gilmore and Jacqueline Nieters each attempted one shot. Taylor James recorded three saves.

Rockhurst's next match is Monday at 1 p.m. against Fort Hays State in Hays.
