First-half goals lead Hawks past Greyhounds

First-half goals by Jacie Tottleben and Anna Lantz gave the Hawks a 2-1 victory over Indianapolis on Friday night in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Rockhurst (4-4, 2-2 GLVC) opened the scoring with Tottleben's goal in the 15th minute, who beat her defender and scored from 12 yards out.

During the 30th minute, Lantz added her fourth goal of the year on a 20-yard shot into the high center of the net to extend the Hawks' lead to 2-0. Julia Witt provided the assist, her third of the season.

Indianapolis (3-3-1, 2-1-1 GLVC) responded with a late first-half goal near the end of the 43rd minute to cut the Rockhurst lead to 2-1 just before halftime.

The second half saw both teams shoot 12 shots combined with four combined saves. Neither team scored in the second half, allowing Rockhurst to leave Indianapolis with a narrow win.

Rockhurst took a total of 13 shots, with 10 in the first half and three in the second half. Gabby Hennessy and Lantz each led the team with three shots and Taylor James notched five saves.
