Hawks travel to Truman State, Quincy

Rockhurst hits the road this weekend for two GLVC matches. On Friday afternoon, the Hawks face Truman State in Kirksville, Missouri at noon and they'll face Quincy on Sunday in Quincy, Illinois at noon.

The Hawks (7-4, 5-2 GLVC) are riding a five-match winning streak, their longest since 2022 when they started 5-0 in the GLVC. Rockhurst has also recorded three shutouts in a row and in four out of their last five matches, their longest shutout streak since the end of the 2022 season.

The Hawks defeated Upper Iowa, 3-0, last Friday with goals from Elle Kimball, Olivia Schwarzen and Elizabeth Mertzlufft. A Lizzo Rosenthal goal in the 71st minute gave Rockhurst a 1-0 victory over Lewis last Sunday. Taylor James earned GLVC Defensive Player of the Week honors after posting two shutouts and nine saves against Upper Iowa and Lewis.

Truman State (3-3-3, 2-2-2 GLVC) enters Friday's action against Rockhurst on a two-game winning streak with two shutouts. The Bulldogs won 3-0 over Lewis last Friday and 3-0 against Quincy last Sunday.

Rockhurst trails the all-time series, 11-4-2, since 2001. The Hawks and Bulldogs played to a 0-0 tie in their last contest on Oct. 6, 2023, in Kirksville, Missouri.

Friday's match at Truman State will see the GLVC's Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week face each other. In addition to James, Truman State sophomore forward Lia Quintero earned GLVC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Quincy (1-6-2, 1-3-2 GLVC) lost their last two matches, falling 3-2 last Friday to William Jewell and 3-0 to Truman State last Sunday.

Dating back to 2001, Quincy leads the series 15-10-5 over the Hawks. Rockhurst won 3-1 at Bourke Field on Oct. 13, 2023 in their last matchup.
