Women's Soccer posts 2-0 win in season debut

Junior forward Gabby Hennessy scored two goals to lead the Rockhurst women's soccer team to a season-opening 2-0 victory over Northern State Friday night at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Hennessy scored her first goal in the sixth minute and gave the Hawks a two-goal lead in the 66th minute with an assist from sophomore forward Anna Lantz.

Lantz led Rockhurst with five shots and four shots on goal. Hennessy posted three shots and two shots on goal. Lizzo Rosenthal added two shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper Taylor James made three saves in the second half for the Hawks.

Rockhurst (1-0) will next face Bemidji State on Sunday morning at Missouri Western.
