Behind hot shooting, Rockhurst posted an 85-73 victory over McKendree in the Hawks' Hall of Fame game Saturday afternoon at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.
Five Hawks scored in double figures as Rockhurst shot a season-best 51 percent from the field (25-of-49). Reagan Dodd, Ali Kamies and Macie Conway led the Hawks with 15 points apiece. Dodd scored 11 of her 15 points in the first quarter, shot five-of-seven from the field and collected 10 rebounds to add a double-double to her resume. Kamies did a little bit of everything by adding three assists and two steals. Conway made both of her three-point shots.
Keegan Sullivan scored 13 points on four-of-five shooting and dished out a team-high four assists. Molly Hummel gathered 10 points and pulled down six rebounds.
The Hawks led 42-32 at halftime and opened the second half with a layup by Kamies, but the Bearcats rallied to bring the score within one with three minutes left in the game. Free throws were huge for Rockhurst as they made 28-of-34 (82.4 percent) compared to McKendree's 10-of-22 (45.5 percent).
McKendree (10-13, 7-9 GLVC) shot 43.9 percent from the field (29-of-66). Clare Breden led the Bearcats with 15 points, five assists and four steals.
