Hawks claim first place at Quincy Tri-Meet

Alexandre Adum won the 100 and 100 butterfly events

The Rockhurst men's swimming and diving team posted 143 points to claim first place at the Quincy Tri-Meet Saturday in Quincy, Illinois.

Rockhurst won 10 individual races, in addition to capturing the 200-meter freestyle relay. Omar Abla, Ali Usama, Mohannad Nada and Alexandre Adum each won two events.

Abla claimed first place in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. Usama was a winner in the 100 and 200 backstroke. Nada captured the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley, Adam swept the 100 and 200 butterfly races.

The Hawks also picked up wins from Omar Mohsen in the 1,000 freestyle and Adam Hamdy in the 100 freestyle. Hamdy, Usama, Adum and Abla led the Hawks to first place in the 200 freestyle relay.

Hamdy (50 freestyle), Abla (100 freestyle) and Mohsen (500 freestyle) added second-place finishes along with the 200 medley relay.

Ian Klapper finished third in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, along with the 200 individual medley. Davi Araujo (1,000 freestyle) and Nada (100 backstroke) added third-place points.

Rockhurst will next compete at the Drury Invitational on Nov. 3-4.
