Women fall at home to Illinois Springfield

The Rockhurst women's soccer team allowed two goals early in the second half as the Hawks fell to Illinois Springfield, 3-1, Sunday at Bourke Field.

Sierra Cenek, who scored three goals at William Jewell on Friday, found the nets for both of the Prairie Stars' goals in the final 30 minutes.

Jacqueline Nieters cut Springfield's lead to 2-1 right before halftime. The junior defender knocked in a rebound shot in the 43rd minute. Hanna Jones and Halle Mallum were credited with assists on Nieters' second goal of the season.

Rockhurst outshot the Prairie Stars, 15-6. The Hawks had 11 shots in first half and four shots in the second half.

Elle Kimball led the Hawks with three shots and one shot on goal. Anna Lantz posted three shots. Nieters tallied two shots on goal. Jones and Sarah Gilmore each had two shots and one shot on goal.

Rockhurst (6-5-3, 4-4-2 GLVC) plays at Drury on Friday.
