Late goal lifts Hawks over Missouri Southern

Mallory Mumby scored in the 87th minute to give the Rockhurst women a 1-0 victory over Missouri Southern Friday night in Joplin, Missouri.

Mumby found the nets for her fourth career goal with an assist from Olivia Schwarzen with 3:30 left in the game.

Rockhurst outshot the Lions 18-11. Gabby Hennessy led the Hawks with four shots. Schwarzen and freshman Elizabeth Rosenthal each tallied three shots. Mumby added two shots on goal.

Alyssa Kerperien posted her sixth career shutout while collecting five saves.

The Hawks (1-1-1) next face Oklahoma Christian at 3 p.m. in Oklahoma City.
