Kelley taking part in NCAA Division II Identity Workshop

Rockhurst men's lacrosse coach Kevin Kelley is taking part in the fifth NCAA Division II Identity Workshop, which concludes today in Indianapolis.

The three-day workshop is covering a wide range of topics that directly impact the coaches on Division II campuses. The coaches in attendance will have an opportunity to learn more about the NCAA from several departments including championships, academic and membership affairs, and governance. They will also be apprised of impactful professional and personal development opportunities to benefit their careers.

"The DII Coaches workshop opened my eyes to the many areas I can make my program stronger. Not only from personal player development, but to fundraising, and our overall gameday fan experience," Kelley said.

Kelley capped off his ninth season at Rockhurst with the school's first GLVC regular season co-championship. He has a career record of 78-45 since being named the first coach in the history of the program in 2014.

Kelley is one of just two coaches from the GLVC selected for the workshop. He is joined in Indianapolis by William Jewell softball coach Dustin Combs.

"It was refreshing to talk with other Division II peer coaches and hear about their successes and what methods they used to achieve those successes," Kelley added. "However, on the flip side, it was also great to hear about some of the obstacles these same fellow coaches have had to overcome and how they manage those potential pitfalls."
