Hawks fall to Indy in GLVC quarterfinals

Rockhurst came up short at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Tournament, falling to third-ranked Indianapolis 4-1 in a quarterfinal elimination game on Saturday in East Peoria, Illinois.

The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a run-scoring triple and scored three runs on five hits in the fifth to take a four-run lead.

The Hawks scored in the sixth inning on an RBI groundout by Josie Lindemann. Allison Shakiba led off the sixth with a walk and advanced to second on a single by Calli Wibbenmeyer.

Anna Newcomer (11-11) allowed three runs on six hits with five strikeouts over 4.1 innings.

Rockhurst ends its season with a 23-24 record.
