Hawks host UMSL in quarterfinals of GLVC Tournament

The road to the GLVC Championship begins Sunday

The Rockhurst Hawks will host the University of Missouri- St. Louis in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Soccer Tournament at noon Sunday at Bourke Field.  

Rockhurst (11-2-3, 10-1-1 GLVC) is the No. 1 seed after capturing the title of GLVC Regular Season Champions and will play the eighth-seeded University of Missouri- St. Louis.   

The Hawks will be making their 16th appearance in the GLVC Tournament under coach Greg Herdlick. Rockhurst captured the 2018 GLVC Tournament championship as a No. 7 seed with a 1-0 overtime victory over fifth-seeded Bellarmine.  

Freshmen forward Anna Lantz leads the team with 19 points on eight goals and three assists. Sophomore midfielder Olivia Schwarzen has tallied 12 points on five goals. Freshmen forward Lizzo Rosenthal scored 9 points with four goals and one assist.   

UMSL returns to Kansas City with a record of (5-6-5, 3-4-5 GLVC). The Tritons lost their earlier meeting at Rockhurst, 2-1, back on Sep. 30. The Hawks lead the series 7-4-2.   

The winner of the quarterfinal contest will advance to play in the semifinals Friday, Nov. 4, at the highest remaining seeds campus. Rockhurst would host the semifinals and finals if they were to win.
