GLVC Tournament run ends for Hawks

Rockhurst's amazing run at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Tournament came to an end on Saturday in East Peoria, Illinois.

The Hawks dropped a 5-1 decision to McKendree Saturday morning and four hours later fell 8-0 to seventh-ranked Indianapolis.

McKendree scored five runs in the fifth inning after starting pitcher Lexie Storrer had to leave the game with an arm injury. Storrer held the Bearcats scoreless on three hits in the first four innings.

The Hawks scored in the sixth inning on an RBI groundout by Gwen Bostick. Clare Reinhart hit a one-out double and advanced to third on a single by Maya Gallagher.

Allison Shakiba led the Hawks with three hits. Shelby Winkelman added two hits.

Indianapolis shut out the Hawks one hit—a sixth inning single by Shakiba. The Greyhounds scored two runs in the second and six more in the seventh.

Rockhurst finished with a 2-2 record at the GLVC Tournament, including a 3-2 win over Indianapolis, to end the season with a 26-16 record.
