Hawks fall at USI in GLVC tourney opener

The Rockhurst women's soccer season ended Monday night, falling to Southern Indiana, 3-1, in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament in Evansville, Indiana.

Southern Indiana scored less than three minutes into the game and added two more goals before halftime.

Rockhurst broke into the scoring column early in the second half. Jillian Leetch scored her eighth goal of the season in the 55th minute to cut USI's lead to 3-1.

Leetch got a pass from Elle Guttmann just past midfield and outraced the USI defense for a shot from 14 yards out into the right back of the net.

Rockhurst (7-5-3) finished with 13 shots and nine shots on goal. The Eagles posted 12 shots and five shots on goal.

McKenna Leetch led the Hawks with four shots. Jillian Leetch, Elle Kimball and Greta Seal each tallied two shots. Megan Meyers and Alyssa Kerperien combined for two saves.
