Hawks earn No. 6 seed in GLVC Tournament

The Hawks will be making their 15th appearance in the GLVC Tournament under coach Greg Herdlick.

The Great Lakes Valley Conference released the bracket for the 2020-21 GLVC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.

Rockhurst (7-4-3) is the No. 6 seed and will play at third-seeded Southern Indiana (10-3-1) at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 19. The Hawks posted a 2-1 victory over USI at Rockhurst on March 21.

The Hawks will be making their 15th appearance in the GLVC Tournament under coach Greg Herdlick. Rockhurst captured the 2018 GLVC Tournament championship as a No. 7 seed with a 1-0 overtime victory over fifth-seeded Bellarmine.

Southern Indiana returns to the GLVC Tournament for the fifth-straight year and 15th overall after capturing the 2019 title as the 7-seed in penalty kicks over top-seeded McKendree.

Seedings for this year's postseason were set to be based on a point system, where a win earned three points and a tie earned one. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some games were canceled and unable to be rescheduled, so an averaging system was utilized to determine seeds for this spring.

Top-seed and GLVC regular season champion McKendree finished with an 11-2-1 record. The Bearcats will play host to No. 8 Maryville (6-5-3) in Lebanon, Ill., on Monday at 5 p.m.

Second-seeded Indianapolis (10-3-1) will face No. 7 Truman State (7-6) on Monday in Indianapolis at 4 p.m.

Fourth-seeded Lindenwood went 9-2-3 for the last spot as host in the quarterfinal round, welcoming fifth-seeded Quincy (7-4-3) on Monday at 7 p.m.

Each of the four quarterfinal winners will advance to the GLVC Championship Tournament semifinals, which will be hosted for the first time at Hunter Stadium on campus at Lindenwood. The two semifinal contests will be played at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 23, while the finals will take place Sunday, April 25 at 3 p.m.
