Hawks blank Illinois Springfield, 2-0

The Rockhurst women's soccer team claimed their fourth shutout win of the season, recording a 2-0 victory over Illinois Springfield Thursday night at RU's Bourke Field.

Elle Kimball scored in the first half and Jillian Leetch made it 2-0 with a second-half goal. It was the second goal of the season for both players.

Kimball scored in the 22nd minute when he flicked the ball over the goalie from eight yards out with an assist from Haley Schroeder.

Leetch tallied an unassisted goal in the 50th minute when she stole the ball and left-footed a shot from 15 yards out into the back right.

The Hawks finished with 17 shots and eight shots on goal. Springfield collected 12 shots, including nine shots in the first half.

Jillian Leetch led the Hawks with three shots. Kimball, Elle Guttmann, Greta Seal, Hannah Byrne and Cameron Murphy each posted two shots.

RU goalie Alyssa Kerperian posted four saves in the first half and added two saves in the second half.

Rockhurst (5-3-3) hosts Quincy on Saturday afternoon.
