Defensive play carries No. 3 Drury past Hawks

A strong defensive performance led third-ranked Drury to a 73-44 victory over Rockhurst Saturday in Springfield, Missouri.

The Panthers closed out the first half on a 19-0 run to take a 35-16 halftime lead. The Hawks cut their deficit to 16 points before Drury ended the game on a 21-8 run.

Molly Hummel led the Hawks with 10 points (on five-of-10 shooting) and five rebounds. Keegan Sullivan posted eight points and nine rebounds. Daly Sullivan scored eight points. Reagan Dodd collected seven rebounds. Lani Thompson added six points and six rebounds.

Drury (10-1, 2-0 GLVC) made 24-of-69 field goals while scoring 36 points off turnovers. Paige Robinson led the Panthers with 19 points, eight rebounds and six steals.
