Rockhurst finished the 2019-20 academic year with 38 of its student-athletes posting a 4.0 grade point average, earning each of them the Brother James Gaffney, FSC, Distinguished Scholar Award from the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
The award, named after the former president at Lewis University and a two-time chair of the league's Council of Presidents, was given to 554 student-athletes across the conference that finished the academic year with a 4.0 average in the classroom.

Rockhurst baseball team led the way with eight representatives, followed by women's lacrosse with five recipients. Women's soccer, women's cross country and women's golf each had four members. Volleyball, men's lacrosse and softball had three members, respectively.
