Hawks claim 48 COP Academic Excellence awards

Rockhurst had 48 student-athletes receive the prestigious GLVC Council of Presidents' Academic Excellence Award in the 2019-20 academic year.
Zach Bodeau of the men's lacrosse team and Kiri Evans of the softball team led a group of 48 student-athletes from Rockhurst University in receiving the prestigious GLVC Council of Presidents' Academic Excellence Award in the 2019-20 academic year.

Bodeau and Evans were two of 16 GLVC students who met the highest standard of academic excellence by concluding their collegiate careers with an unblemished 4.0 cumulative GPA.

The recipients of the GLVC COP Academic Excellence Award exemplify the outstanding student-athletes in the GLVC. Each honoree has exhausted his or her eligibility in the intercollegiate sport in which they participated and maintained at a least a 3.5 grade point average throughout their academic career.

In addition, to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the GLVC for a minimum of two years and completed 96 credit hours. A student-athlete can only earn the distinguished honor one time per sport in his or her career.

This year's total of 420 student-athletes is a league record and marks the fifth time more than 300 honorees have been recognized since the award was first inaugurated in the spring of 2010. The Rockhurst women's soccer and baseball teams each had six recipients. Men's lacrosse and volleyball each had five recipients. Men's soccer, women's basketball, men's tennis and softball added four recipients apiece.
