Indianapolis holds off comeback by Hawks

Rockhurst's Madeline Ronshausen and Daly Sullivan combined for 45 points, but the Indianapolis Greyhounds were able to hold on for an 88-82 victory Thursday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

A layup and free throw from Molly Hummel pulled Rockhurst within two at 79-77 with just under two minutes remaining, but the Hawks wouldn't get any closer as UIndy salted the game away at the foul line.

Ronshausen scored a game-high 23 points on eight-of-15 from the field and a perfect five-of-five from the foul line. Sullivan helped spark the second half comeback as well, finishing with a season-high 22 points on nine-of-15 from the floor, including three three-pointers. Paige Pendley played with energy and toughness, racking up 13 points and game-highs in assists (seven) and steals (five).

Lauren Krissman scored eight points, while Hummel finished with seven points and six rebounds. Rachel Holden added six points on three-of-four from the floor.

The Hawks moved the ball well, tallying 16 assists on 29-of-59 shooting (49.2 percent). Free throws were a key part of Rockhurst's comeback as the Hawks made 17 in a row after the first quarter (17-for-21 total). UIndy was able to build its lead with advantages in rebounds (39-22) and points in the paint (44-34).

Laura Thomas (23 points), Emma Benoit (20 points) and Shira Sasson led the charge for the Greyhounds.

Rockhurst will look to bounce back Saturday vs. Bellarmine (1:00 p.m.).
