The Rockhurst Hawks led much of the first half at Southwest Baptist, but the Bearcats pulled away for an 81-62 win Thursday night in Bolivar, Missouri.
A
Madeline Ronshausen three-pointer at the 4:03 mark of the first quarter stretched the Rockhurst advantage to 15-4. The Hawks didn't surrender the lead until midway through the second quarter, but the Bearcats had too much firepower the rest of the way, led by Kyleigh Vaught (22 points) and Alexus Johnson (19 points).
Ronshausen recorded team-highs in points (14) and assists (four), while
Paige Pendley and
Lauren Krissman scored in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Daly Sullivan and
Meghan Urbanski combined for 14 points.
The Hawks shot well from the outside, connecting on 10-of-24 threes (41.7 percent), but struggled inside the arc, converting just nine-of-34 two-pointers (26.5 percent).
The Bearcats had advantages in points off turnovers (26-7) and fast break points (22-3).
Rockhurst (10-17, 4-15 GLVC) travels to Springfield on Saturday to take on the top-ranked Drury Panthers in the Hawks' season finale.
