Seniors lead Hawks to 98-54 win over Bearcats

Rockhurst's seniors combined for 60 points in their home finale Saturday as the Hawks breezed to a 98-54 victory over the Southwest Baptist Bearcats.

Madeline Ronshausen (26 points), Lauren Krissman (season-high 19 points), Rachel Holden (season-high 10 points) and Maddy Grennes (five points) all shined on Senior Day as the Hawks shot a scorching 56.7 percent from the floor (34-for-60).

Rockhurst led wire-to-wire, scoring the game's first 12 points, part of a 24-5 first quarter. There was no drop off in intensity in the second quarter as the Hawks continued to scrap on both ends, taking a 47-18 lead at the half.

Leading 58-32 in the third quarter, the Hawks stretched the margin to 36 as seniors Holden, Krissman and Ronshausen combined for a 10-0 run. Rockhurst would finish the job in the fourth quarter as 11 players got in the scorebook.

Ronshausen shot an efficient 10-of-17 from the floor and added a game-high eight rebounds. Krissman shot the lights out as well, finishing seven-for-eight. Daly Sullivan (12 points) was perfect from the floor (three-for-three) and the foul line (four-for-four). Paige Pendley tallied 11 points and seven rebounds, while Holden racked up six rebounds and five blocks to go along with her 10 points.

The Hawks (10-14, 4-12 GLVC) enjoyed advantages in rebounds (35-19) and points in the paint (42-16). The 98 points set a team record for most points scored in a GLVC game over the past 15 seasons.

Rockhurst will look to carry this momentum into Thursday's game at Lindenwood.
