Hawks travel to S&T, host Maryville this week

Coach Larry Park takes his team to Missouri S&T on Thursday.
The Rockhurst Hawks continue GLVC play this week with games at Missouri S&T (Thursday, 5:30 p.m.) and at home vs. Maryville (Saturday, 1:00 p.m.).

After back-to-back wins over Illinois Springfield and Saint Mary a couple weeks ago, the Hawks (8-8, 2-6 GLVC) have dropped their last three games against Southern Indiana, McKendree and William Jewell.

Senior guard Madeline Ronshausen has been on fire, combining for 55 points in her last two games. The First Team All-GLVC performer shot 14-for-24 from three-point range in the two contests (58.3 percent), totaling 26 points against USI and 29 points vs. Jewell. Ronshausen has upped her scoring average to 16.8 points per game, sixth-best in the conference. She ranks second in the GLVC in three-pointers made with 38 on the year (2.53 per game).

Paige Pendley (9.6 points per game), Meghan Urbanski (9.3 pg) and Daly Sullivan (8.7 pg) have all heated up at times, but will strive for more consistency as the Hawks look to turn things around. Sullivan leads Rockhurst in assists with 37 on the year. Pendley is right behind with 35 assists. Reagan Dodd continues to lead the Hawks in rebounds (4.4 pg). Ronshausen is second on the team, averaging 4.0 pg.

Missouri S&T enters Thursday's matchup with a record of 7-8 (3-5 GLVC). After losing five out of six, the Miners bounced back to beat Maryville on Monday, 82-74. S&T features strong balance offensively, as four players average double-figures -- Mykala Baylor (12.6 pg), Alex Kerr (11.5 pg), Maddie Raley (10.7 pg) and Laura Rodriguez (10.6 pg).

Maryville (9-6, 4-4 GLVC) has been streaky lately, losing three of their last four games after previously winning six out of seven. The Saints beat Southwest Baptist 82-66 on Saturday before falling to S&T Monday. Maryville is led by the GLVC's scoring leader, Mary Barton, who is averaging 22.9 pg. Barton has been extremely efficient given the volume, shooting 47.3 percent from three (tied for first in GLVC) and 90.9 percent from the foul line (second in GLVC).

Both games will be streaming on glvcsn.com, with live stats available here on rockhursthawks.com.
