Hawks host Maryville in GLVC first-round game

The Rockhurst Hawks will host Maryville in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Soccer Tournament at noon Sunday at Bourke Field.

The Hawks (13-4, 11-4 GLVC) are the third seed in the tournament after posting a 1-0 victory at Bellarmine last Sunday.

Junior midfielder Jillian Leetch leads the team with 16 points on five goals and six assists. Sophomore midfielder McKenna Leetch has tallied 10 points on five goals. Senior forward Stephanie Ostrander and freshman defender Greta Seal have each scored eight points.

Maryville returns to Kansas City with a record of 10-5-1 (9-5-1 GLVC). The Saints won their earlier meeting at Rockhurst, 2-1, back on Oct. 4. Maryville has won the last three meetings with Rockhurst, but trails the all-time series by a 7-3-1 margin.

The Saints' nine wins in the league are the most victories that Maryville has had in conference play since joining the GLVC.

The winner of the quarterfinal contest will advance to play in the semifinals Friday, Nov. 15, at the Woehrle Athletic Complex in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
