Hawks open season with road trip to Nashville

Lauren Krissman and the Hawks tip off the 2019-20 season Friday in Nashville.

The Rockhurst women's basketball team begins regular season play this weekend at the Pops Duncan Classic in Nashville, Tennessee, taking on Kentucky Wesleyan (Friday, 2:15 p.m.) and the host school, Trevecca Nazarene, (Saturday 4:00 p.m.).

Kentucky Wesleyan finished last season with a record of 24-6 (18-4 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference). Trevecca Nazarene posted a 12-17 record (11-11 GMAC) in 2018-19.

The Hawks return plenty of contributors from a team that won four of their final seven games last year. Coach Larry Park will look for leadership from First Team All-GLVC performer Madeline Ronshausen, along with fellow seniors Lauren Krissman, Rachel Holden and Mary Leigh Rock.

Rising sophomores Meghan Urbanski, Hailey Dolphin and Reagan Dodd are expected to be in the mix, as is transfer junior guard Daly Sullivan.
