Hawks close out home schedule this weekend

The Rockhurst Hawks close out their home schedule this weekend against Lewis (Friday, 5 p.m.) and Illinois Springfield (Sunday, noon).

Rockhurst (10-3, 8-3 GLVC) fell from first to third place after dropping two road games last weekend. The Hawks need a win to maintain their half-game lead over three other GLVC teams.

The Hawks were ranked ninth in this week's Midwest Regional coaches' poll. Jillian Leetch leads the team with 13 points on four goals and five assists.

Lewis (6-5-3, 4-4-3 GLVC) has gone 3-1-2 in their last six games. The Flyers are coming off a 1-1 tie at Southern Indiana on Sunday.

Rockhurst has won seven of its last nine meetings with Lewis dating back to 2010. The Hawks blanked the Flyers 2-0 last year at Rockhurst.

On Sunday, the Hawks meet Illinois Springfield (6-6, 5-6 GLVC) on Senior Day. Rockhurst holds a 9-1 advantage all-time over the Prairie Stars. The Hawks won last year's meeting, 3-0, in Kansas City.
