First-place Hawks travel east this weekend

The 24th-ranked Rockhurst Hawks travel east for a pair of GLVC matches -- Friday at Lindenwood (5:00 p.m.) and Sunday at Missouri-St. Louis (12:00 p.m.).

The Hawks (10-1, 8-1 GLVC) have moved back into first place in the conference standings after a pair of wins over McKendree and Southern Indiana, who were a combined 15-3 entering last weekend.

Goalkeeper Megan Meyers posted shutouts in both matches. Jillian Leetch has been a key cog in the Hawks' offense, accounting for 13 points (four goals, five assists). Stephanie Ostrander is tied for the team lead with four goals. McKenna Leetch, Greta Seal and Hannah Byrne have each scored two goals. Elle Guttmann and Mary Koeller have each tallied one goal and three assists.

Coach Greg Herdlick's team leads the conference in goals scored with 24 on the season.

Lindenwood enters Friday's matchup with a record of 4-6-1 (3-5-1 GLVC). The Hawks meet the Lions for the first time since 2011. Lindenwood leads the all-time series, 6-3-1.

UMSL enters the weekend 1-10 (1-8 GLVC). The Hawks shut out the Tritons, 1-0, last year in Kansas City. Rockhurst holds a 10-6-2 advantage in the all-time series.
