No. 4 Drury pulls away from Hawks with big second half

Rockhurst fell to Drury 62-41 Saturday afternoon at Mason-Halpin Field House. The fourth-ranked Panthers outscored the Hawks 36-20 in the second half.

Madeline Ronshausen led the Hawks with 10 points, while Marisa Lowe tallied eight points. Brittany Meyer added a quick six points in the fourth quarter. Kaci German was active on the glass, pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds. Morgen Smith showcased nice passing from the center position, recording a team-high three assists.

The Hawks showed great energy defensively in the first quarter, as their zone stifled the Panthers, who missed 15 of their first 16 shots. Tied 12-12 after one quarter, Rockhurst turnovers and Drury offensive rebounds offset the Panthers' cold shooting start.

A Meghan Urbanski mid-range jumper put the Hawks up three at 21-18 midway through the second quarter. Drury would end the half on a 8-0 run, punctuated by a Paige Robinson 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The Panthers carried that momentum into the second half, scoring the first 12 points of the third quarter, extending their lead to 17 at 38-21. Drury's athleticism and full-court pressure overwhelmed the Hawks in the second half en route to a 21-point victory.
