Hawks drop first game of the year at Quincy, 1-0

Lauren Merlo led Rockhurst with four shots on goal.

Box Score The Rockhurst women dropped their first game of the season, falling by a 1-0 count to 20th-ranked Quincy Friday night in Quincy, Illinois.

Quincy scored in the 30th minute on a seven-yard shot by Mackenzie Rief from the middle of the box. Quincy later had a shot hit the post in the 85th minute.

Rockhurst posted eight shots while Quincy tallied 12 shots. Lauren Merlo led Rockhurst with four shots (all on goal). Sophomore goalkeeper Rosie Breheny posted with five saves.

The RU Hawks (4-1, 2-1 GLVC) next play at Truman State on Sunday.
