Hawks close out home schedule with 2-1 victory

The Rockhurst Hawks closed out their home schedule with a 2-1 victory over Southern Indiana Sunday at Bourke Field.

Kate Sommerhoff and Ellie Corrigan scored goals in the first half to power the Hawks to their seventh win of the season.

Sommerhoff scored on a 15-yard shot off a pass from Kaley Nieters in the fourth minute. Corrigan scored the go-ahead goal with 50 seconds left in the first half on a shot in front of the goal off a corner kick by Mary Koeller.

Rockhurst outshot Southern Indiana, 17-16. Sommerhoff led the Hawks with six shots and four shots on goal. Nieters added four shots. Maggie Forbes made three saves.

The Hawks (7-7, 5-6 GLVC) play at Bellarmine Friday afternoon.
