Rockhurst posts 2-1 victory over McKendree

Mia Zanaboni's goal gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead late in the first half.

Box Score Goals from Mia Zanaboni and Brandi Vollmer carried Rockhurst to a 2-1 victory over McKendree Friday night at Bourke Field.

The win leaves the Hawks tied for second place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with an 8-1-2 league record.

Zanaboni opened the scoring with a seven-yard shot inside the left post in the 41st minute. Courtney Silberberg and Erika Celoni assisted on the goal.

Vollmer gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead with a 22-yard shot in the 68th minute with an assist from Kaley Nieters. McKendree scored in the 84th minute to cut Rockhurst's lead in half.

Rockhurst finished with 24 shots and 10 shots on goal. Vollmer and Silberberg each posted five shots and two shots on goal to lead the Hawks.

The Hawks, 11-1-2 overall, host Illinois Springfield on Sunday, October 16.
