Hawks break out offensively in 3-0 win over Missouri S&T

Freshman defender Jessica Smelcer scored her second goal of the season.
Box Score The Rockhurst women broke out offensively in shutting down Missouri S&T, 3-0, in the conference opener for both teams Friday night at RU's Bourke Field.

Nicole Keeve opened the scoring when she knocked in a shot off a corner kick in the 10th minute for her first goal of the season. Kristin Wolff and Jessica Smelcer added goals in the second half. Wolff scored on a shot from six yards out inside the right post in the 58th minute. Smelcer hit a rebound shot to the near post in the 75th minute.

Rockhurst posted 20 shots while limiting S&T to one shot. Julia Bartolacci led the Hawks with four shots. Jessica Cook and Meghan Kilkenny each had three shots. Junior goalkeeper Ali Wallner posted her second consecutive shutout while making one save.

Rockhurst, 1-0-3 and 1-0 in the GLVC, will play at Drury on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
