Box Score Rockhurst jumped out to a 19-point halftime lead in rolling to a 70-55 victory over Missouri S&T Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House. The win moved the Hawks over the .500 mark at 8-7 overall.
The Hawks opened the second half on a 17-6 run to take a 58-28 lead.
Brooke Denton's jumper widened Rockhurst's lead to 31 points (62-31) at the 11:45 mark. The Lady Miners closed the game on a 17-2 run over the final seven-plus minutes after the Hawks took out their starters.
Laura Wilson led the Hawks with 11 points (on 5-of-5 shooting) and six rebounds.
Becca Strobbe also scored 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
Mary Dineen finished with nine points, four rebounds and three assists.
Lauren Meyers added eight points and
Haleigh Cindrich posted eight rebounds.
Jillian Myers led the team with five steals, four assists and two blocks.
Rockhurst shot 42.4 percent from the field (25 of 59) and 75.0 percent from the free-throw line (12 of 16). S&T made 20-of-57 field goals (35.1 percent) and 13-of-17 free throws (76.5 percent). The Hawks scored 20 points off 20 S&T turnovers.
