Skala scores winning goal in 2-1 win at Maryville

Taylor Skala scored her fifth game-winning goal of the season.
Box Score Taylor Skala scored her seventh goal of the season to lead Rockhurst to a 2-1 victory over Maryville Sunday in St. Louis. The Hawks (8-1 overall) are tied for second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 5-1 record.

Skala scored her fifth game-winning goal 63 seconds into the second half to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead with assists from freshman Mia Zanaboni and Nicole Vermes. Skala now has 39 career goals, two shy of the school record. Zanaboni tallied her first career goal in the 12th minute off a pass from Jessica Cook to open the scoring.

The Tritons, who scored in the 58th minute, outshot Rockhurst 9-7. Skala and Zanaboni led Rockhurst with two shots apiece. Junior goalkeeper Caitlin Winschel posted two saves. The Hawks return home to host Quincy on Friday and Truman State on Sunday.
