Hawks score early in 3-1 win at William Jewell

Julia Bartolacci scored the first goal of the game for the Hawks.

Box Score Rockhurst scored two goals in the first 11 minutes in racing to a 3-1 victory over William Jewell in the final game of the regular season Wednesday night in Liberty, Mo.

Julia Bartolacci scored RU's first goal in the sixth minute on a 20-yard shot off a pass from Courtney Silberberg. Maria Merlo knocked in a shot from 25 yards out five minutes later, with an assist from Jessica Cook.

Taylor Skala added their Hawks' third goal in the 63rd minute. She scored her 16th goal of the season on a 12-yard shot off a pass from Kristin Wolff.

The Hawks outshot Jewell, 28-8. Skala led Rockhurst with six shots. Wolff posted five shots and Kinsley Fitzpatrick added four shots. Caitlin Winschel posted two saves.

Rockhurst, 14-2-2 overall, finished in third place in the GLVC with an 11-2-2 conference record. The Hawks will host sixth-seeded Quincy at noon Sunday at RU's Bourke Field.
