Joe Stephens was arguably one of the most outstanding defenders in Rockhurst's storied soccer history. He helped lead the Hawks to a four-year record of 56-15-7, highlighted by an NAIA national tournament appearance in 1981. Stephens was named an NSCAA All-American in 1984. He also served as an assistant coach for the Hawks.
