The Hawks were one of the winningest NAIA volleyball programs in the nation during the four seasons with Cassie Varel in the lineup. The New Baden, Illinois native started out as an outside hitter and ended her career as an All-American middle hitter in her senior year. Varel played on four NAIA national tournaments as the Hawks combined for a 194-22 record under coach Tracy Rietzke. She also was a member of the women's basketball team.
