Foul shooting carries Tigers past Rockhurst

Madeline Ronshausen led the Hawks with 20 points.

Rockhurst was held to 31.7 percent field goal shooting in falling to Fort Hays State 67-50 Saturday at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks connected on 19 of 60 shots in dropping their fourth game of the season. Fort Hays State shot 40 percent from the field on 20-of-50 shooting.


Foul shooting carried the Tigers to their ninth win of the season. Fort Hays State connected on 24 of 31 free throws for 77.4 percent accuracy.


The Tigers never trailed in the game while jumping out to a 31-26 halftime lead. Fort Hays State took an 11-point lead, 53-42, after three quarters and led by 21 with 1:22 left in the game.


Madeline Ronshausen led the Hawks with 20 points on seven-of-18 shooting, including four-of-eight from behind the 3-point line. Jillian Myers posted 15 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots. Morgan Harwood added six points and eight rebounds.


The Hawks (6-4) play at Central Missouri on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
