Rockhurst women picked third in GLVC West Preseason Poll

Senior guard Jillian Myers is one of four returning starters for the Hawks.
The Rockhurst Hawks were picked third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division as the league announced the annual preseason women's basketball coaches' poll on Wednesday.

The Hawks return four of five starters from last year's team that went 18-10 overall and 11-7 in conference.

Southern Indiana, Maryville and Drury have been selected to win their respective divisions for the upcoming 2017-18 GLVC season. The annual GLVC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll was voted on by the league coaches and ranks the top-five teams in each of the Conference's divisions.

The Hawks garnered 47 points in the West, behind Drury with 66 points and Truman State with 52 points. Rounding out the West division was William Jewell College (32) in fourth and Missouri S&T at No. 5 (23).

The GLVC regular season will feature a newly adopted three-division format with the familiar East and West Divisions, along with the additional Central Division. The top-eight teams with the most points derived from the new GLVC Point Rating System at the end of the regular season will earn a berth to the GLVC Basketball Championship Tournament on March 1-4 at the Vadalabene Center in Edwardsville, Illinois, on the campus of Southern Illinois Edwardsville.

The Hawks will open the regular season at home on Monday, November 13 against Saint Mary at 5:30 p.m. The first conference game will be November 30 at home against Quincy.
