Rockhurst women suffer 2-1 loss in GLVC Tournament title game

Box Score Rockhurst fell short of winning its first Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Soccer Championship. Fourth-seeded McKendree rallied to edge the second-seeded Hawks, 2-1, in overtime in the GLVC Tournament Championship game Sunday at Michael Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

McKendree's Sydnee Carroll scored the winning goal less than three minutes into overtime. Carroll's shot from 14 yards out went off the hands of the Rockhurst keeper and sneaked inside the far post for her 17th goal of the season.

The Hawks (17-2-2) took a 1-0 lead in the first half when Kaley Nieters scored on a 12-yard shot off a long pass from Courtney Silberberg in the 13th minute. It was Nieters' third goal of the tournament and team-high 10th goal of the season.

Rockhurst finished with 14 shots and five shots on goal. Meghan Kilkenny and Brandi Vollmer led the Hawks with three shots apiece. Ali Wallner collected three saves.

McKendree (16-4-1) tied the score at 1-1 with a goal from Alyssa Reininger in the 55th minute. The Bearcats posted six shots and five shots on goal.
