Box Score Claudio Romano scored two goals to carry fifth-ranked Rockhurst to a 2-0 victory over Missouri S&T in the semifinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament Championship Friday night at Bourke Field.
The Hawks, 15-1-2 overall, will host third-seeded Quincy in the finals of the GLVC Tournament at 1 p.m. Sunday. Quincy defeated Indianapolis in a shootout, 4-1, after playing to a scoreless draw over 110 minutes.
Romano took over the team lead in goals (7) after missing the last five games with an injury. He scored in the 42nd minute to give the Hawks a 1-0 halftime lead with assists from
Evan Craig and
Gianluca Bottoni. The sophomore forward added his second goal in the 53rd minute off a pass from
Kaleb Jackson.
Rockhurst outshot Missouri S&T, 11-10.
Chi Ngwefang led the Hawks with four shots.
Adam Michel and Romano each had two shots.
Logan Feldmann collected two saves.
